3.3 Termination of translation

When the ribosome reaches a stop codon (UGA, UAG, UAA), tRNA does not bind to the A-site, but instead a termination factor.

  • The peptide bond is then cut from the tRNA at the P-site

  • The tRNA peptide and the mRNA are then released

  • The 2 ribosomal subunits are finally separated
